Focused analysis - Captions used
The central theme of the film is that the victims recieve phone calls which effectively lead to their deaths. The thing i found the most interesting about this trailer is that the captions used are all typed, in the form of texts messages, this is very apt and goes well with the theme.
The Uninvited - Trailer - Interesting Shots & Analysis
Analysis.
At 1 Minute 19 Seconds my favourite shot in this trailer occurs, When the girl sits up and the camera quickly pulls away from her, this creates a sense of panic, and makes the audience curious to what will happen next. I also like the closing shot, where the black liquid leaks from the door, and the camera pulls out, it gives the audience the impression that whatever is behind the door is coming towards them and involves them in the trailer. Again, at the beginning of the trailer, the shots fade in and out quickly, like the "Carver" Trailer story but slower, building up suspense whilst unravelling the story.
Focused analysis - Powerful imagery/Conventions of the Horror Genre
The video below was one that we found very interesting and involved some good horror film conventions. The fading in and out of shots using black outs creates tension during the beginning of the trailer. I particularly liked the shot from above where a girl is sitting in the chair, it's a really powerful image, it portrays the girl to be completely helpless and makes the viewer feel trapped with her aswell.
